Wood Privacy
The one most of Jacksonville actually wants
Pressure-treated pine or western red cedar, board-on-board or shadowbox, six foot standard. It is the warmest-looking fence you can buy and the easiest to repair a section of when a limb comes down — which on this coast, it will.
- Board-on-board leaves no gaps as the timber dries and shrinks
- Ground-contact rated posts, not the utility-grade the box stores sell
- Hot-dip galvanised ring-shank nails — smooth nails back out in Florida humidity
- A damaged panel is a two-hour repair, not a section replacement
The catch
Wood moves. Expect some cupping in the first summer and plan on a stain or seal every three to four years — skip that and you are back in twelve years, not eighteen.
