Every wood fence in Florida dies at the ground line first — that is where moisture, insects and fungal rot meet. Vinyl has no ground line problem because there is nothing there to rot. That single fact is why a vinyl fence that costs a third more up front usually ends up the cheaper fence over twenty years.
The catch is that vinyl is only as good as its wall thickness. Thin-wall panels chalk, yellow and go brittle in Florida UV inside a decade, and once a panel cracks in cold weather it cannot be repaired, only replaced. We hang heavy-wall extruded material with a lifetime limited UV warranty and we will physically show you the wall section against a budget panel before you sign anything.
The other detail that separates a good vinyl install from a bad one is reinforcement. Any span over six feet and every gate stile gets an aluminium insert in the bottom rail. Without it, a hot Jacksonville afternoon and a leaning teenager are all it takes to put a permanent bow in the rail.

Does vinyl go yellow in Florida sun?
Cheap vinyl does. Titanium dioxide content and wall thickness are what resist UV, and they are exactly what the discount panels cut back on. Material with a lifetime limited UV warranty holds its colour — and if it does chalk, that warranty is the manufacturer's problem, which is the point of buying it.
Can vinyl handle a hurricane?
A solid vinyl privacy fence is a sail, same as a solid wood one, and the honest answer is that anything solid can come down in a strong enough named storm. What we control is post depth, concrete and spacing. Vinyl does have one advantage: panels lift out of routed rails under extreme load rather than snapping posts, and a lifted panel drops back in.
Can it be repaired if a panel breaks?
A cracked picket or rail is replaced as a component — we do not have to take down a whole section. Keep the profile and colour on file, which we do, and a repair is usually a single short visit.
